Last night I attended the annual kykNET Fiestas – a glamour filled evening with celebrities, great performances and the reason why we attended this prestigious occasion; to celebrate and acknowledge the actors, actress, performers and visual art artists who made Afrikaans theatre what it is today!

It’s a evening where you can dress to your heart’s desire – flowy dress, full face make-up, high heals… mirrored ball war hats – yes; you read correctly! Let’s just say some of the attendees won’t be going on Skattie wat dra jy‘s best dressed list!

If you are, like me in love with Cape Town, you will appreciate this post as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Congrats Cape Town!!

Cape Town has been shortlisted as one of the three design locations for The 2014 World Design Capital – alongside Dublin and Bilbao.

This is the first time – ever – that an African city is nominated and Cape Town lovers are thrilled about this exciting news!

The title of this prestigious award is handed out every second year by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) to cities that focus their designs to not only look amazing but really aim to make a difference in the social, cultural and economic development sector.

The World Design Capital’s Judges for 2014 will be making their appearance in Cape Town towards the end of July 2011. I, for one am very stoked to have them here. South Africa will most definitely impress – as always!!

Congrats, my beloved City!!
