Yesterday was quite the day of eating since arriving in Durban on Friday – the morning started of with a 3km run, follwed by 120 different sit-ups and crunches as well as a few push-ups!

I went for breakfast at around 8:30 and what a feast for the eyes! It was so hot – as always it seems – so I ended up having Belaire Suit’s homemade granola, greek yoghurt and loads and loads of fruit! It was delicious but I may have overindulged just a little bit, nontheless I grabbed 2 apples and – was on my way to the NWJ Bridal fair!

Like I mentioned; Durban is very hot as well as dry – this leaves me thirsty all the time! So I had about 3L of water as well as apples and a Yoga Berry (no dairy) Kauai Smoothie for lunch! Hmmmm!

This is still all good and well; what followed the evening may have been – what do they call it – carb overload! It was amazingly delicious though! Myself and a friend went to Cafe Jiran for dinner – we had wine, the most amazing veg lasagne I’ve EVER eaten follwed by what might have been the best ice cream and chocolate sauce in our existance!

It was a super fun night – the only thing is; I still have to have true Durban Curry! So, tonight I’m on the search for just that!

It’s drizzling today but nevertheless; I’m attempting at least a 2km jog! That ice-cream certainly won’t vanish any other way!

I’ll post some more pics soon!

So after much speculation and weighing of options; I decided to rather go to the gym than exercise outdoors!

This may seem strange as I was in town, had to endure 5 ‘o clock traffic and my petrol light – very appropriately – switched on, but I managed to keep calm and take the high road!

I am very happy about my decision as just then, I received an email from Z2 – she wasn’t feeling all that happy! Now, usually I would suggest wine and in a way I did but Z2 suggested our tradition – a red cuppachino from Woolworths! She did end up having wine – I didn’t – but I suspect she needed it a tad more than me!

After our catch up I did manage to visit the gym; and I had one of the best sessions ever – it may have been that mixed berry smoothie…or the fantastic chat I had with my friend! I am CERTAIN I needed Z2 more than she needed me! Strange how that works out; right?

I don’t often exercise in the great outdoors – I much prefer a air-conditioned environment – but as I had a training session scheduled for today (which unfortunately had to be cancelled) I thought, “Why not grab the opportunity and take on the Promenade!” This will only include a Jog which is quite a relaxed exercise regime in comparison to my usual training.

My outdoor training experience (if you can call it that) started last week – when I was still a virgin Lion’s Head Climber/Walker/Runner; that’s no longer the situation. {YAY!!}

Now; I won’t go as far as to say I’ll be able to take you on a personal Hiking Tour but I’m sure I’ll be able to figure out – some way or another – to get you up and down the mountain! (That’s a good way to start; right?)

Now the only question is, “Do I take on the Promenade, Lion’s Head or the familiar gym?”

What do you think of out door exercising?

Once a week myself and two of the coolest girls in the world meet up for dinner party – rotating houses. Last night was my turn and – as I promised them – went all out!

I found the most amazing Food Blog – Food and Fabulous – and then I came across a very interesting Recipe; although I’ve never had Aubergine I was excited to try and put this dish together! Z2 is Vegetarian so it’s always exciting to try new things and experiment with different ingredients. This recipe was perfect for the ‘Gourmet Sense of Style’ I was wanting to treat them with.

Myself and Z1 are not vegetarian so I thought some chicken would really be missed but alas – it was PERFECT; a recipe I would recommend to anyone. I did however think it would be too little food so I opted for a 2nd dish – a Butternut, Beetroot, Feta, Red Onion and Roasted Sunflower Seeds recipe which I found on Harvest Brighton and Hove. I did serve it cold though.

These are my attempts at these dishes – personally I think I did a job well done; it tasted Delicious!

What is your favourite dish to try?

So, as my first post in this {very exciting} venture of mine I am going to share the one thing most people DREADSnacking, nibbling, eating small quantities of food ALL.THE.TIME – whatever you want to call it!

Today I find myself in one of these situations – I literally cannot stop wanting to snack on any-and everything!

O.k, so most people will say how extremely BAD snacking is for you – well; if you are snacking on small burgers, patries, chips and/or chocolate coated Pretzels – then YES SNACKING IS BAD FOR YOU!

If you are snacking on the following items you are on the road to a fabulous and healthy body:
(These are items I found has worked for me.)

1. Almonds

2. Apple(s)

3. Celery

4. Carrot Sticks

5. Bulgarian Yoghurt

6. Pretzels, rather than biscuits or chips

Personally – I love snacking on different fruits, especially apples, peaches, naartjies and strawberries.
You see – snacking ensures your metabolism stays on track because your sugar levels are up, running and in good condition. Now, don’t go ballistic and eat all.da.all.day.long!

Remember; everything in moderation!

Do you have a favourite snack?

*Please note, I am no dietician nor have a studied anything related to healthy eating or exercising. I am merely a normal person who happens to find this field very interesting and thus have learned a few things {which I will share with you} through my experiences.

As mentioned previously; I have turned my life around – I came to a point in my life where I had to be Honest with myself!

I started watching what I put in my mouth as well as how much exercise I do in a week – this seems to be the only {healthy} option out there and I’m sticking to it! Done!

So, this is what I have learned over the Course of {more or less} 4 months:

1. It is {VERY} POSSIBLE To say NO. Especially aimed at Sweet indulgences – the sugar will kill you!

2. It is possible {and VERY EFFECTIVE} to incentivise your Workout Routine. Work out 3 times a week for 2 week=new pair of Shoes. Your wallet and waistline thanks you!!

3. Loosing weight is Difficult. Deal with it!

4. What you put in your mouth; needs to be used effectively within your workout.

5. Working out doesn’t allow you to eat whatever the hell you want. This will ruin you. You will NOT lose any weight. {UPSIDE: You can indulge [after you’ve reached a stable weight] in something..NOT EVERYTHING}

6. Don’t REWARD yourself with food – in the end you are ONLY FOOLING YOURSELF.

7. Lastly – you will Thank YOURSELF for what you have achieved. You will feel better; your skin will look better; your hair, nails – everything will just be better!!

P.S – TOP TIP {BEAUTY}: Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise. You can Thank me later!

Happy Exercising!
